About Caryn Company

CCO is a small, trade only, environmentally friendly workroom that takes on limited projects.

Unlike most high end work rooms I do 90-100% of the work myself. I went to FIT and while going to school I became the cutter/director at Studio M. At Studio M. I worked for Pamela Banker at Parish Hadley. I personally hand sewed her Master Bedroom tissue thin silk drapery. Studio M named after the original owner Marvin used old school drapery techniques  that very few workrooms use today. Techniques that I use to this day. When matching a pattern I don’t use glues, so my seam opens beautifully. I sew very fine French seams on sheers. I hand sew my rings. My lengths are spot on. My drapery lead is sewn from the inside and hand tacked from the inside. I don’t glue my trims on. My pillow shams with envelope backs have hidden seams. I only use Invisible zippers on my pillows. I know how to cut a pillow where It doesn’t look like a starfish without it’s top or the opposite a circle.

The environment is an especially important part of the way I work. I produce about 1 can of garbage a month. I use no glues, recycle all packing materials, donate and reuse/repurpose all remnants. I’m involved in Cambridge school fundraising and make reusable shopping bags from remnants that the school sells at fundraisers. Cambridge is a bring your bag or pay for one city. My workroom is about a mile away from my home, a mile away from my son’s school, and a mile away from his after school program. I bike everywhere I need to go. Unless I need to haul something my car sits unused for weeks.
